The course will focus on positional shooting, long range shooting, engaging moving targets, sniper/observer communication, and land navigation.
Required equipment for the course includes a scoped rifle capable of (MOA) accuracy (Due to range restrictions special permission is needed if using any round other than .308); 500 rounds of match grade service ammunition; and eye and ear protection. A complete list of required equipment will be provided to each candidate upon acceptance into the course.
All candidates must be in good physical condition, be an active member of their department’s tactical team (SWAT, ES, etc.), and be a graduate of either the FBI Basic Police Observer-Sniper Course or another documented Basic Sniper Course. Candidates will be required to submit a copy of their Basic Sniper certification. Additionally, all candidates will be required to pass the FBI Sniper qualification test, which will be administered on the first day of the course. Candidates will have three opportunities to pass the qualification test. The FBI Sniper Qualification test will be used to ensure basic proficiency and marksmanship skills necessary of each candidate before moving onto the advanced topics addressed in the course. If a candidate does not pass the FBI Sniper Qualification test, they will be removed from the course and their agency’s registration fee will not be refunded. A copy of the FBI Sniper Qualification test protocol and scoring standard will be provided upon acceptance into the course.
The cost per student will be $850 and will include all meals, lodging, range fees, and training materials. Class size is limited to twenty-four (24) students and will be filled on a first-come-first–serve basis. If lodging and meals are not needed (local students or departments wish to make their own lodging arrangements) the cost will be $650.
After registering and providing payment, please email a copy of your Basic course certificate to Marty Stress at mgstress@fbi.gov, with the name and department of those individual(s) registered to confirm attendance at the advanced course.
